DOUGHBOY, Tommy Grooves @TheBakerieHK
DoughBoy is one of the most recognizable names in Hong Kong’s small but burgeoning hip-hop scene, yet his reputation belies his otherwise quiet demeanor. Today, he writes and performs songs that have become the toast of the tight-knit rap community, such as “Chinglish” and “HONG KONG!

MASTAMIC
MastaMic, or Master of Microphone, is a 30-year-old Cantonese rapper. For those who have watched RTHK’s satirical show on current affairs, Headliner, MastaMic is the voice behind many of the rap songs skewering local politics.
MastaMic first got into hip-hop at secondary school. His friends were listening to Suede and Oasis, but he was more attracted to the wave of hip-hop music hitting Hong Kong at the time, through artists like Eminem and local outfit LMF, in addition to the associated skateboard culture.
He get his inspirations from everywhere. He says he has always loved to think deeply about a variety of subjects since he was young. For instance, he used to question why you have to pay for textbooks when the authors did not discover or invent the knowledge in them. (source: The standard HK, 2017)
THE LOW MAYS
The Low Mays is a Cantonese indie hip hop music group in Hong Kong formed in 2015. The Low Mays had an experimental approach to their music, drawing influence from genres such as drill music and trap music to create a sound unfamiliar to Hong Kong at the time, which is in contrast with the 90s influenced Hong Kong hip hop at the time.

Despite being independent musicians who rarely appear in public, the group has developed a sizeable cult following in the Hong Kong and Guangzhou underground hip-hop scenes due to their outlandish content and eccentric personas. The group's sophomore album, "DRAGON CITY DRUG MANOR" has been awarded top album of 2016 by several local publications. (source: deletedwiki, 2018)
YUNG TAKEEM
Receiving such feedback in person doesn’t happen often for Hung Tak-shun, the Hong Kong-born university student behind the Yung Takeem moniker. For most of the year, he lives in Markham, a suburb close to Toronto, Canada, and does everything related to his music online. Most of the school year, he is away from the Hong Kong scene where he has received the most recognition, and only comes back to his hometown for winter and summer holidays.

Yung Takeem spices up many conventional themes of hip-hop, such as sex and drugs, with clever hyper-local references that only people who are in touch with both Cantonese pop culture and Chinese history would understand. (source: SCMP, 2018)
