“大龍鳳” (Dai Lung Fung) - meaning of the Chinese dragon and phoenix, is also a common phrase for causing a scene and being uncompromising. The project aimed to provide an alternative guide to part of the Hong Kong underground Hip Hop scene as well as some unconventional tourist destination that featured in the artist's music videos. Inspired by a one off Hong Kong Underground Hip Hop party live in London in the summer of 2018, this project is paying homage to the artists that played on that night and further more wanted to explore about what they stand for, that is the spirit of the Hong Kong youth. 

 

  Through this project, we used 3 main artists: Fotan Laiki, Youngqueenz and N.O.L.Y's music and their hometown Hong Kong as a starting point, we then went on to explore the local side of Hong Kong via studying their music video’s location and introducing some hidden gem of local Hong Kong. We also gathered some archival interviews from the artists to hear what they have to say about being a Hip Hop artists in Hong Kong. There’s a zine that shows imagery from the gig on that night alongside with some local scenery of Hong Kong, as well as combining a look book for some of the merchandise that pays homage to the artists.

  As a result of this project, we wanted to honoured the events for it was the first European leg for such a niche and local Hong Kong underground hip hop scene, we also wanted to introduce some of the artists from the night to the internet youth across the globe, as the website is an alternative way from doing a cliche and touristy impression of Hong Kong, we can promote Hong Kong through the youth's fashion and music instead, as well as providing some interesting insights about the unusual and non-tourist local area.
